What hail damage looks like
Most homeowners cannot see it from the ground, and that is the problem. Hail bruising on an asphalt shingle looks like a dark soft spot where the granules have been knocked loose and the mat underneath is exposed. It does not leak on day one. It leaks in two years, after the exposed mat has cooked in the sun.
